Growing Community Through Action

What is Civic Engagement?

  • Working to make a difference in the life of our communities.

  • Developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference.

  • Promoting quality of life in a community through both political and non-political processes.

Three Questions

  1. Why do women's voices matter in civic engagement? How are we heard?

  2. How do ethnic voices matter in civic engagement? What representation is there?

  3. Why do ethnic women's voices matter in civic engagement? Who are the role models here?

How can you make a difference?

  • Volunteer

  • fund raise for a charity

  • stand for political office

  • vote

  • run petitions

  • join a governing board

  • protest

  • belong to an organisation

  • be part of community conversations

Three Further Questions

  1. How are you already involved?

  2. Where would you like to contribute?

  3. How can you do so?
