First Aid Training

I did the workplace first aid training with Practical Training Solutions.

We did some preparatory homework, which taught me how to recognise emergencies, manage an accident scene, call for help, plan for household emergencies, draw an evacuation plan, and plan for general emergencies.

The actual course was for an entire day and by the end of it I was pretty tired!

There were lots of acronyms. E.g. DRSABCD, CPR, DOTS, SAMPLE.

Some of the misconceptions mentioned were that the emergency number in New Zealand is 111, not 911. However, responders have apparently begun picking up 911 calls too.
